Holgarocks is a Finnish society of photographers, who still believe that there is more in a photograph than just an image. The flight of a swan over a lake in the sunset. A virgin, in her white dress, standing innocently by a little pond in a forest. Those are things from which we live and breathe, capturing small fragments to those we leave behind, small pieces of the past saved for the future.
Our journey started a few years ago, from a little plastic camera called Holga. A few guys with a funny idea: there is more to photography than just sharp edges and 5 million pixels. More than just a picture, a story. They believed that photography can be fun, even though most of the Finnish amateur photographers were biting each others heads off, fighting the ultimate fight N vs. C. And what could be more fun than an easy, cheap, plastic camera. That middle format wonder brought these people together and they grew to be more than just a society, they grew to be friends. One thing united them, and that was the interest to take pictures, pure and simple. Take pictures without the suffering caused by the hunt for the technically perfect photo. Without that suffering that so many photographers have, when they invest thousands and thousands of euros in equipment to shoot a ducks ass at the local park.
Today we shoot with all kinds of equipment, from digital to SLIDE SHEETS! Still believing there is more in a photo than just resolution. Believing in feeling. The feeling of that virgin in her whites.
